Abstract
A 7-year old boy with a past history of tuberculous meningitis and hydrocephalus for which he had undergone shunt surgery, was referred from the Neurosurgery department to rule out papilloedema. Fundus examination showed bilateral primary optic atrophy. The etiology, pathogenesis and clinical features of bilateral primary optic atrophy in childhood are discussed.
