Abstract
Life threatening opportunistic infections are common in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected individuals. Here, we present a case of a 25-year old male, having multiple opportunistic infections – coexistent cryptococcal and tuberculous lymphadenitis with oesophageal candidiasis and the role played by Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in the diagnosis of Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS). Cryptococcal and mycobacterial lymphadenitis along with disseminated candidial infections are rare. The cytological diagnosis are confirmed with special stains like mucicarmine, periodic acid Schiff( PAS), Ziehl Neelsen (ZN) and culture.
