Abstract

The process of discontinuation of mechanical ventilation is called Weaning which needs to be carefully timed. Premature discontinuation of ventilator causes severe stress on the respiratory and cardiovascular system of a patient. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is commonly referred to as “Neural Network” helps in developing decision supportive system which will standardize the procedure for predicting weaning decisions. Genetic algorithm (GA) is used enhance the learning capability of neural network. In this work a mathematical model for predicting weaning decision is developed using mathematical model is also ANN and Genetic algorithm and verified using Matlab. The design concepts and simulation are presented.
