Abstract
Acute pancreatitis is a common acute abdominal condition affecting the physically active age group leading to considerable financial problems. Alcohol is the most significant etiological agent. Biochemical tests can diagnose the condition accurately and radiological assessment can guide in the severity of the disease. Significant improvement in the Ranson's score 2 indicates that conservative management is the treatment of choice. Most of the complications require only conservative management. Serum lipase is significant indicator for the development of peripanceatic collections and necrosis. Increasing levels of serum amylase is a significant indicator of pancreatic pseudocyst development
